Members of the UN Security Council strongly condemned the attacks targeting the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant and warned about the serious risks linked to attacks on nuclear facilities.

The UAE joined Security Council members in calling for full accountability over the incident.

During an emergency session at the United Nations, Ambassador Mohamed Abushahab, the UAE’s Permanent Representative to the UN, said the attack caused no injuries or radiological release and confirmed the Barakah plant remains operational.

He said the facility continues to supply up to 25 per cent of the UAE’s clean electricity and generates more than 40 terawatt-hours of energy annually.

Mr Abushahab stressed that the absence of immediate damage should not reduce the seriousness of the incident.

He described threats and attacks targeting nuclear facilities as a “red line” for the UAE and warned that such actions carry risks extending beyond national borders.
